family guy (seasons 4-present) is

so under-appreciated

so disregarded.

it's nice to see they are FINALLY getting their proper recognition.

i think a lot of it is thanks to the brilliance of this man:

family guy is so often trashed and thrown aside as being stupid/unfunny

that it makes it extra special.

NOTE: it's been such a long time (50 years) since the Emmys have done this, and so out of the ordinary for the normally tame Academy (they would so recognize a classic like the Simpsons first) that I'm some what worried that this is all going to end up as a fluke. hopefully not though.

harry potter and the half gay prince

maybe since the books wrapped up, i've lowered my expectations for the movies,

but i thought HP6 was wonderful.

lavender, luna, slughorn, fuck even dumbly.

i love how nobody is complaining that the dursleys aren't in this one.

i imagine filming that last scene, with harry, hermione and ron starring off

into the distance at their adventure coming up was a lot less dramatic

knowing that they were starring at a green screen.

i think one of the reasons i loved it so much was the mention of horcrux.

that brought the reality that the series was coming to a close to the forefront.

and did anybody see snape's sympathy when he looked into harry's eyes?

anyway, great movie, can't wait to see it in IMAX and can't wait for deathly hallows.

im looking forward to the visit back to godric's hollow best.

with the exception of my favorite line in the entire series being cut, and a whole lot less Luna exposure than she deserves, I'd say this was one of the best of the series yet.

oh, and michael gambon didn't completely butcher dumbledore! huzzah!

Regina Spektor's latest album "Far" was released on Tuesday and it's got about a tenth of the hype that her previous album "Begin to Hope" had.

It's cause she doesn't have a song like "Fidelity" on there.

But the album is still pretty good. The song they seem to be promoting like "Fidelity" is called "Laughing With". Here's the video for it...

The song is decent, but the lyrics are a huge departure from her usual God questioning wit. In her song "Baby Jesus" which she only sings at concerts, she talks about how she was scared for her life at all the "believers". "Laughing With" on the other hand suggests that those who question God won't be doing so for long once they're in the hospital or on their death bed. She still says she's skeptical about God in interviews, but she is a pretty devout Jew.

Anyway, it's hard to complain with a lyric like:

And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
